MENLO PARK – Claudia Abderhalden is a contemporary jewelry designer who resides in Santa Barbara. Her work is primarily in sterling silver incorporating enamel, gold, copper, gemstones and other up-cycled/re-purposed materials. Whether it’s earrings, necklaces, bracelets or rings her sense of composition exhibits an edgy sophistication with clean, geometric shapes. Inspiration of these textures and patterns are often inspired through architectural expressions that appeals to lifestyle trend-setters.
“I’ve incorporated wool felt in the past and more recently I’ve been working on a collection with up-cycled bicycle tubing, packaging plastics, music record vinyl into some pieces of jewelry. My goal is to create minimal yet interesting pieces for everyday and special occasions,” says Abderhalden.
Abderhalden’s career in jewelry design began over ten years ago leaving behind a career as a social worker which started in Switzerland and continued in California. After completing an interior design program and attending jewelry classes she has since pursued her passion as a jewelry designer full time.
